Someone on DOA was asking if Mystic Kids dolls can sit cross-legged or in the lotus position (or half-lotus). I took some photos of my boy sitting cross-legged. He has the MK new 1-piece torso body. I can't be sure but I think the 3-piece torso body might be better at posing since they generally are. But I have absolutely no regrets choosing the 1-piece torso body over the 3-piece one. I really adore the aesthetics of the 1-piece torso body and the posing ability is also quite good for a 1-piece torso! Who knows, maybe I might be tempted to get another MK doll in future heh.

Xue's Outfit & First Photoshoot

So I said in the box opening post that I was gonna add on to the outfit he currently has. Here's the finished work! I made the cloak, neck ring(?), headband and waist sash. (〃∇〃)

Some of you might have realized that the six coins emblem is the Sanada crest! (●´艸`●) The color scheme and waist sash are actually inspired from Sanada Nobuyuki of Samurai Warriors 4.

Speaking of Sanada Nobuyuki, the name I mentioned I was considering in the box opening post was actually "Nobuyuki" lol. Or "Xinzhi" which is the Chinese reading for his name in Kanji 「信之」. But Strawberry's finished look also reminds me a tiny wee bit of Bachong Xue of Chang An Fantastic Night...

So I'm gonna call my Strawberry "Xue", but with a different Chinese character「薛」 (●´艸｀●)ﾌﾌﾌ Here he goes!

On another note, I've read some comments about Cherry Castle dolls having weird egg shape heads with tall foreheads which is pretty much the same with my boy. You can see a picture from his side view photo here or more in the box opening post. But it worked perfectly for me in this case with just the right amount of space (or extra space) for both his hair and headband!

So I guess he's almost completed except that I still need to add hair extension so he has long hair like Bachong Xue lmao. (●´ω｀●) And I probably need to change his eyes colors too maybe??

Box Opening: Xue and Mu Yeong

Okaaay, my Loongsoul boy actually arrived first but there are more photos to edit + a box opening photostory for him so it will get some time for me to get off my lazy butt to finish his box opening post. So in the meantime, here's the box opening for my Cherry Castle Strawberry and Doll Family H Xiao Xing Practice Head.

I've been thinking about getting Strawberry but didn't know where to order Cherry Castle dolls from so I did some research before I ordered Strawberry via CC Dollhouse, an official dealer, on Taobao since they were the closest to my China shipping agent's warehouse and the local shipping was both fast and free. I requested to change to a boy body as well because as everyone knows, I'm biased towards boys LOL. I also came across some additional hands Cherry Castle had but I didn't see them in the agent's store so I contacted Cherry Castle's official store a couple days later and asked them if I could buy the hands from them and have it shipped together with my order via CC Dollhouse, which they said wasn't a problem, to my great relief.

Anyhow, CC Dollhouse is also an official dealer for many other Chinese dollmakers so I also threw in a practice head from DF-H to boot and ordered them both on Feb 8. The extra hands were ordered from Cherry Castle on Feb 10. They arrived on Mar 21, which is a special day because it's Sato Takeru's birthday! ♥

I've been telling myself I need to stay off Taobao, but noooo itchy hands just had to go and start surfing and clicking on websites, so I ended up having yet another Taobao spree and expanding my boys' never ending wardrobe collection. This time, I decided to give Hyunie's another makeover as I wasn't too satisfied with his previous one. So little guy got a new set of outfit plus a new wig to boot. I had to trim the wig quite a lot as it was too big and too long for the little guy and I thought it was a pity to crop away those lovely wavy strands but, oh well.

And now for more Hyunie spam!

【Food】Usagi no Cream Daifuku【Part 1】

I came across Nippon-ya, a Japanese food boutique with a branch in Singapore, a few weeks ago and saw their Usagi no Cream Daifuku sets and just had to try it. Sadly, the flavor I wanted, Green tea, was sold out. I went again today and luckily for me, the Green Tea flavor was restocked. So I took the chance to buy one with the Great Singapore Sale promotion going on LOL!

I finally got J's body! Since getting J's head (msDoll now SooLeeDoll Drayton 2nd), I've been planning and waiting for a Little Monica's event to get his body... then I almost didn't get his body because their 2012 Winter event discount only applied to full dolls and not bodies. But thanks to Vienni dear for being willing and game enough to do a spilt for a full doll so that we could both get a discount for her Crow head and my J's body, I eventually managed to place a order for the lovely Crow near the end of the event!

Crow was shipped just before the Lunar New Year holidays and he arrived right before Valentine's day! On to the box opening, welcomed by the other "J" in the house - Junsu!

Taobao Haul Part #1

The other time in my Luts Haul post, I mentioned wanting my Mini boys to wear traditional outfits like the Hanbok and the Kariginu. I managed to find someone selling Kariginu for MSDs on Taobao and since I already got my Hanbok, I decided to go for it! This time I used a Singapore Taobao agent to make things a little easier for me. It's my first time using an agent and there was some hiccups regarding my order, but overall it was pretty convenient if you're buying from different stores and they were very helpful when I need to ask the seller questions.

Sadly, the agent could only hold the package for 10 days and I am still waiting on my AE Milkshake head, which takes like 20+ days to make, so I had to ship the rest of my stuff first. I'll probably get a few more stuff to go with my AE head to save on the shipping, but that's Part 2 LOL. I just received the first batch, so here we go!

I know I opt for pick up but I wasn't really expecting them to dump everything in a plastic bag. I thought they'd be in a box... I think it's probably easier to carry around but the stuff were actually visible if anyone peek into it. I don't want to imagine how my AE girl head will be treated when she's ready for delivery. -__-

The Kariginu! I couldn't find a better print for the colour scheme (white) I wanted, so I took this instead, since the other white had prints with goldfishes so big you can't see the entire fish on the front LOL. But oh gosh those big PINK flower prints! ≧Д≦ I'm wondering if I could ask for pure white instead. I got the clogs separately but they don't seem too suitable... T_T

On the plus side, I'm happy to report that the red shoes I got from Taobao actually more or less match the red on my Luts Hanbok outfit, plus it adds a little color to an otherwise solemn outfit! After the fit I threw about the outfit the other time, I'm happy to say it now looks a tad more acceptable to me. >ω<

I know I said no more MSD outfits but well, resolutions be damned. LOL. *facepalm* When I saw this Tzuki outfit, I just had to get it! LOL. It's a popular rabbit emoticon and the words on the hoodie actually means "Solitude is an Attitude". Very Forever Alone-ish! looool!

There's still part 2 to go when I get my girl's head. So I'll still be stalking Taobao for a bit. Oh god why did you let me discover Taobao?!

Luts May 2012 Sale Event Haul

Warning: Looong Rant? LOL!

Luts had a 30% off wig and 20% off outfits, eyes and shoes sales for May 2012 so I had to *ahem* grab some wigs that I've always liked for the boys! I ordered on the first day of the sale but Luts only sent it to me yesterday because they had to make the hanbok. It was the fastest EMS shipping I ever encountered because I received the parcel today!

Not much pictures and crappy pics too, as it was late. :(

There were some wigs, outfits and matching white and pink chicky panties for the little ones! I had this grand dolly plan for the tinies to wear matching chicky panties (three white and three pink) which I imagined would be just too cute! BUT, JUST BUT, I ordered the wrong size for the white ones! How could I have made such a stupid mistake and not know until I got them?! So now my dolly plans are shot to hell because I don't have enough undies for the tinies and the only ones available are PINK. So yeah, all of you three who are going to wear them, congratulations!

And, despite promising myself not to get any more mini size outfit, I just had to go and get that Hanbok (because of a dolly plan involving my minis to wear traditional costumes like Hanbok and Kariginu), which I now sort of regret. I got purple because the colors look good on the website. But in actuality, they are actually sort of ... dull. The purple and blue are not so distinguishable compared to their official photos.

I feel a little disappointed considering the price; might as well get the orange for the contrast, and it's more colorful too. =_= Worse is that I've got red shoes from a China seller (which have not arrive) to match the hanbok based on the company's photos. The only purple available was too light and I thought red would match the red on the sleeve so it wouldn't look too odd. Now I've got an outfit that looks solemn with bright red embroidered shoes. My boys are all fast turning into gaylords. I should probably change my DOA nickname to Gaylileo. (╯°□°）╯︵ ┻━┻

I haven't tried the other outfits yet but I'll update again!

Now on to wigs~ Luts has always been one of my favorite companies to buy wigs from, other than Crobidoll. I bought some of their more recent ones and two older ones. The recent wigs are worth the price but I am ambivalent about the older ones. The quality of the recent styles are much better. One of the older wigs that I got for my Masaru (H.C Yurr head) was a 7-8 inch wig because the other SD wigs I had (8-9 and 9-10) were all too big for him. But he couldn't wear the 7-8 inch wig either because now it is too small. Wth?! Masaru! Exactly what size do you wear?! *faints*

Doll Story....

I was actually more or less settled with my BJD story and was planning to focus on my SD collection this year so I can bring "life" to the story and characters. It was supposed to be a cafe-theme story but due to a certain latest *ahem* addiction of a certain *ahem* person *ahem*, I now can't decide if I should form my own BJD pop group instead! LOOOOL. Oh well, screw this shit, imma combine them both if I can ROFL. Wish me luck.... (until I changes my mind again OTL)!

Anyhow, I bought another Tiramisu from another cake store and here is Yūya claiming it for himself! They look and taste almost the same except for the topping, which made me wonder if those cake stores actually got it from elsewhere. -.-

There is this awesome cake store that opened at my local shopping mall (awesome because the shop was very sweetly decorated and served by girls in sweet, pink maid uniforms >w<). I always wanted to try their cakes but resisted so far, but I finally crave in yesterday and bought some from The Icing Room. I usually don't post food review but then I thought how could I not take photos of such lovely cakes with my boys?! So here we go!

BJDs in General

First thing first, for those not in the know, the 'dolls' that are the subject of the photography in this blog are known as Asian Ball-Jointed Dolls, or ABJDs for short. If you are keen to know more, you can find loads of information about these dolls on Den of Angels, a BJD forum, including a list of BJD companies where you can get these dolls.

The dolls featured in the photographs here belong to Galileo (that is, me). Galileo do not claim to make these dolls; she is just one of the many owners of these wonderful dolls. However, she customizes and personalizes the doll herself and the persona that they are created to represent are those of her original characters, unless otherwise stated (e.g. cosplay).

So yes, ABJDs are highly customizable dolls and are usually personified by the owner. They are not "mere mass-produced toys" but collectibles that are "works of art". You can do a lot with a BJD and this include artistic pursuits like photography, story writing, painting and customization, modification, outfit-making and so, so, so on. In fact, they are like an outlet for creativity spanning across mediums.

And oh, they also multiply like jackrabbits.

Who Galileo Is:

Galileo is just a simple girl who goes by that moniker on Den of Angels. A daydreamer, she got into the BJD hobby in April 2010, when she took the plunge and got her first boy, a Dream of Doll Homme Ivan. Now 6 years on, her doll army, or rather her "harem" as she likes to call them, has since invaded and taken over her room. Galileo also has a sweet tooth and is guilty of spamming her blog and instagram with the occasional random food photos. She is forever broke.

What This Blog Is About:
This blog is totally dedicated to BJD, especially Galileo's little ones. You can catch Galileo spazzing about these beautiful dolls here (lots of owner's bias involved)! The blog is also a journal about the everyday life of Galileo and her BJD Crew. The blog also serves as a humble showcase of Galileo's BJD-related works that include, but is not limited to, doll photography, outfit creations, face-ups, props making and so on. Galileo may also occasionally rant about how expensive everything is and will occasionally shamelessly advertise dolly items for sales to fatten up her dolly fund.

The Story & Dolls Behind Café Galileo:
Galileo is biased towards (cute) guys, so her dolls are mostly boys with the exception of three little girls. Most of them are original characters except for cosplay dolls (L of Death Note), while some are inspired by real life or fictional drama/manga/game characters (like Takeru is named after Satoh Takeru). They all have their own individual personalities and different background stories, but they are all bonded together by the entity known as Café Galileo. She also edit her photos in Photoshop. Although she is still a photography amateur, her boys' photos are NOT stock images nor are they "free-for-all", so please do NOT take, edit or use them without permission.

TiRAMiSU Outfit Creation

Tiramisu is the name under which Galileo sells all her home-made and hand-made BJD items which include, but is not limited to, (1) outfits, (2) accessories, and (3) props.

All outfits, accessories and props are personally made by Galileo and outfits are usually sewn with a sewing machine although details and certain parts may be hand-sewn. Please note that Galileo is not a professional. But even though the sewing and crafting may not be perfect, we hope your little ones will enjoy wearing the outfits and using the props as much as Galileo enjoyed making them! ^^

[Q] Where can I buy from you?
[A] We are currently active on eBay and Den of Angel (DOA). You can check out our eBay Store and a list of all current Sales Threads on DOA. A plan to open a store on Etsy is still currently in the works.

[Q] Do you accept other payment methods other than Paypal?
[A] Unfortunately no. However, if you are from Singapore or have a Singapore bank account, we'll be able to accept local bank transfers.

[Q] What are the shipping options?
[A] For standard packages, we usually ship by Registered Airmail by default. This comes with basic tracking and takes approximately 14-18 working days for international delivery. For higher value purchases like doll, you will also be given the option to have it shipped by Speedpost Air or EMS.

[Q] How much can I expect shipping to cost?

[A] Shipping rates depend on the total quantity and weight of the items and starts from $3.25* for an lighter item (such as one dolly tee or a pair of eyes). You can combine more items in a single package to save on shipping, since they will share the same base registration cost. For example, two pairs of eyes (depending on size) will cost around $3.55 to $3.85 in combined shipping instead of $6.70 for separate mails. The final cost will depend on the total weight of the item(s) itself.

[Q] I have asked previously but was given a different shipping rate?
[A] All things equal, it is possible for shipping for the same item to vary due to the USD-SGD currency exchange rate. To keep prices current, we usually do a conversion at the point of enquiry, so there may be a slight difference in the shipping rate from time to time. However, the difference is usually minimal, depending on the exchange rate fluctuation.

[Q] Do you have a cheaper shipping alternative?

[A] You can opt for normal airmail without the mail registration and tracking but we do not recommend this option as there is no way to track your package if it get lost during transit. However, we can make an exception for lower-value packages (total value of less than $3) if you wish to save on shipping. But please note that we will not take responsibility for lost packages if you decide to opt for normal mail.

[Q] How will the items be packed?

[A] For smaller, standard purchases like eyes or outfits, the items will be sent securely packed in a bubbled envelope or bubbled wrapped in an envelope. Purchases that contain more or bigger items will be sent in a box.

[Q] Can you mark it as a gift or under-declare the value?

[A] We usually mark packages as "gift" by default but declare the total value of the package rounded down to the nearest dollar. If you wish to under-declare the value by more than a dollar, please inform me but do note that you may not be able to reclaim back the full value of your package if it gets lost during transit.

[Q] Do I need extra insurance?

[A] We do not require additional insurance but please note that we are not responsible for any loss or damage during transit as this is beyond our control once the package leaves our hands. However, shipping by registered mails in itself is also considered a kind of insurance, since you can trace your package and file a claim in the event the package get lost.

[Q] Is custom taxes included in the shipping?

[A] The shipping provided does not include custom taxes that your country may impose. The buyer is generally responsible for any custom taxes or fees as we are not familiar with your country's postal regulations and will not be able to advise on any potential fees you may incur.

[Q] How can I track my package?

[A] You can start tracking your package at Singpost. Once the package arrives in your country, you can begin tracking via your country's postal website if they have a track and trace function. Please refer to the list below for the tracking services of a few countries:

• United States: USPS
• United Kingdom: Royal Mail
• Canada: Canada Post
• Australia: AUSPost
• Japan: Japan Post
• South Korea: Korea Post

Alternatively, you can use Track & Trace to track. Please refer to the FAQ below for more info.

[Q] Using Track & Trace to track your package
[A] Firstly, go to Track & Trace, enter the tracking number and choose the "Track with Options" function. The system will automatically track the package from the SingPost's website. At the left corner, there will be a bar stating "Singapore" with "Select Country" below it. Click on "Select Country" to choose your country, for example, USA. The system will now re-track the package with the selected country's postal tracking system (e.g. USPS for USA).

[Q] The tracking does not seem to update.

[A] For more efficient tracking, please track the parcel at the country it is currently in. If the parcel has already been marked as "dispatched overseas" on the SingPost website and you're unable to get further updates on this package, please try to track the parcel at your country's postal system website for registered articles (if available), or use the Track & Trace website as mentioned in the earlier FAQ.

[Q] It has been more than 18 working days and I have not received my package?

[A] The 14-18 working days is just an estimate. The actual time taken for delivery may depend on a variety of factors. For example, custom checks, festive seasons and public holidays can potentially lead to delays. In such cases, please give it a few more days or an additional week or two for delivery.

[Q] I think my package might be lost, what should I do?

[A] If it has been over 3-4 weeks and you still have not receive your package and the tracking has not been updated, please let us know so that we can help you to raise an enquiry with the Singapore Post after 18 working days from the date of posting.

[Q] What should I do if the item was damaged during transit?

[A] We usually take care to pack the items carefully in order to minimize the risk of damage, but in the event that the item does arrived damaged, please take some photos of it and contact us immediately so that we can work something out. Your prompt notification and photos of the damaged item will also be helpful if there is a need to file a claim with the post.
